希律王 HEROD THE GREAT

The Magi or wise men tell Herod they have come to worship a baby born to be king.
东方三博士告诉希律王说他们来敬拜新生儿称王

Herod was the King appointed by the Roman so he was worried.
希律王是被罗马人选为王的，所以他担心

Because he was fearful that an other king was going to replace him.
因为他害怕另一位王会取代他

He even murdered to stop this happening.

Herod replies to the Magi [The Wise Men]

2:3[hgb] 希律王听见了、就心里不安．耶路撒冷合城的人、也都不安。
[lzz] 希律王听见了，就震才不安，全耶路撒冷也同他一样；
[kjv] When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
[bbe] And when it came to the ears of Herod the king, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.

2:4[hgb] 他就召齐了祭司长和民间的文士、问他们说、基督当生在何处。
[lzz] 他就召集了众祭司长和民间的经学士，向他们查问基督（即∶被立膏者）应当生在什么地方。
[kjv] And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.
[bbe] And he got together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, questioning them as to where the birth-place of the Christ would be.

2:5 [hgb] 他们回答说、在犹太的伯利恒．因为有先知记着说、
[lzz] 他们回答说∶「在犹太的伯利恒。因为有神言人记着，说∶
[kjv] And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet,
[bbe] And they said to him, In Beth-lehem of Judaea; for so it is said in the writings of the prophet,

2:6[hgb] 『犹大地的伯利恒阿、你在犹大诸城中、并不是最小的．因为将来有一位君王、要从你那里出来、牧养我以色列民。』
[lzz] 『犹大地的伯利恒阿，你在犹大的首要乡村中并不是最小的；因为必有一位执政者由你而出，就是要牧养我人民以色列的。』」
[kjv] And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.
[bbe] You Beth-lehem, in the land of Judah, are not the least among the chiefs of Judah: out of you will come a ruler, who will be the keeper of my people Israel.

2:7 [hgb] 当下希律暗暗的召了博士来、细问那星是甚么时候出现的。
[lzz] 当下希律秘密地召了占星家来，仔细向他们查问那星出现是什么时候；
[kjv] Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.
[bbe] Then Herod sent for the wise men privately, and put questions to them about what time the star had been seen.

2:8 [hgb] 就差他们往伯利恒去、说、你们去仔细寻访那小孩子．寻到了、就来报信、我也好去拜他。
[lzz] 就打发他们往伯利恒去，说∶「你们去仔细探问那小孩子的事；找着了，就报告我，我也好去拜他。」
[kjv] And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.
[bbe] And he sent them to Beth-lehem and said, Go and make certain where the young child is; and when you have seen him, let me have news of it, so that I may come and give him worship.
